Hi! My name is Traci. I was taught to knit one summer when I was 8 and declared to my mother “I’m bored!” never thinking I would pick it back up as an adult and become addicted! When I was 21, I was diagnosed with Rheumatoid Arthritis and found myself spending a lot of time in bed, so I began knitting again to pass the time. People saw my scarves and began to order some. Someone suggested I start an Etsy shop. And RamsGirl was born!

RamsGirl Design is named for my alma mater, the Virginia Commonwealth University Rams.

I love the colors and textures of yarn and can’t help myself whenever I see something new and exciting. I’m always trying to “work down” my collection of yarn. Yet somehow, as soon as I see a bit of space in a bin, more yarn finds its way to me.

I’m very picky about the feel of my yarn. Because I have sensitive skin, I only choose the softest skeins! Every scarf should feel cozy and luxurious, and yet still be easy to care for. So yes, I am that person in the yarn store, petting all the skeins. It is a tough job, but someone has to do it!

I have always created my own knitting patterns. I have a vision in my mind of what I want a piece to look like. Many times there are happy accidents, and something even better turns out. I get frustrated knitting patterns from magazines or books that seem to take forever to knit up. My time and attention span is limited! So I began to sell my patterns as well as the finished items, so that other knitters could enjoy quick patterns that are perfect for last minute gifts (something I am famous for) or just a quick weekend project.

I want this place to be a source of advice and fun for other knitters (and non-knitters!). Please keep checking back for information on yarns, tools, patterns, events, and more. Thanks!
